SHIP-WA features to accommodate Western Australia Homelessness Portal (Find My Way)
SHIP-WA is getting many new features in preparation to support the Find My Way portal project.
Find My Way has been funded by the Western Australian Government, through the Department of Communities. Find My Way supports the “All Paths Lead to a Home”, Western Australia’s 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030 and it is a core piece of infrastructure supporting sector-wide adoption of a “No Wrong Door” approach to service delivery. The Western Australian Homelessness Portal’s comprised of two main components: SHIP-WA upgrades and the Find My Way Portal.
The changes in SHIP comprise of the following features:
- Vacancy Management System SHIP-WA services and selected non-SHS agencies can advertise vacancies and view each other’s vacancies. In addition, they and Western Australian Department of Communities can see current vacancies in WA.
- Electronic referrals SHIP-WA services and selected non-SHS agencies are now able to receive and send electronic referrals so that agencies can refer clients for accommodation or support.
- Connections to enable SHIP users to connect and exchange selected information with clients that are using Find My Way.
- Demographic and contact information can be shared from Find My Way to maintain currency in SHIP. These are saved as pending records that may be rejected to prevent duplicate information and crucial information being overwritten
- Triage and Assessment Profiles will be implemented to enable a state-wide assessment framework for sector (the Common Engagement Tool) and to enable clients to easily share their story with Services that are supporting them (My Story My Words).
SHIP-WA users have received training material and invitations to information sessions, if you are a SHIP-WA user and did not receive the material please contact: [email protected]
