30th June 2019 – Changes to the collection of Sex/Gender and Language

A number of changes to the Person Details form will be introduced on 30th June 2019.

Who is affected?

These changes will affect:

  • Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) workgroups – and other non SHS workgroups in the same cluster
  • Any workgroup which is using the default client details form

Note: If your organisation has a specially configured client details form, these changes may not affect you.

Sex and Gender

Depending on requirements, some organisations record a person’s ‘Sex’ and some record ‘Gender’.

An additional option of ‘Other’ has been added to the options for the Sex and Gender fields. This aligns with the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) standard for collection of Sex and Gender.

These changes will not affect you if your configuration is set up to record other options (such as intersex/indeterminate).

Language

An additional language field has been added to SRS:

When no other language is spoken at home, the user can select ‘None’ for ‘Other language spoken at home’.

Proficiency in spoken English

If a language other than English is selected for either language field, then the following field will be displayed:
