9th August 2018 – SRS Update

A software update was released to SRS environments.

The release includes the following new features

Security
As part of our continued program of improving SRS application security, Infoxchange will be
implementing a number of new features over the coming month:

  • Implementation of a Web Application Firewall (WAF) in front of all SRS instances. A WAF
scans all traffic between a web browser and the web application and blocks many known
vulnerabilities. A number of SRS instances already utilise a WAF. As part of this upgrade, all
instances will be protected by the Clouldflare WAF. The WAF will help protect against the
    most serious web threats.
  • Implementation of stricter password rules. This will include a requirement that new passwords
have a minimum length of 10 characters, and passwords and usernames cannot be
identical. Users will also be prevented from reusing recently set passwords.

DSS Update
The DSS data exchange data collection will be modified during August 2018. SRS has been
updated to support these changes. Separate release notes have been circulated to all
organisations using the DSS data exchange which detail these updates. Some of the changes to
SRS will be implemented shortly after this release. When implemented, these will be advertised
on the SRS login page for affected agencies.

Other Minor Enhancements and Bug Fixes
This release also includes a number of other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
